Wags ‘N’ Whiskers Kids ‘N’ Kritters

Looking for a fun way to spend some quality time with the whole family? Join the MSPA for its 12th annual Wags N Whiskers/Kids N Kritters Day on Sunday, May 5, 2013. This fun-filled event features something for everyone- even Fido!
Kids N Kritters celebrates the special place animals have in our lives. Located in the 2300 block of Honolulu, our Kids’ Korner, features Montrose Bounce House with interactive attractions to delight youngsters. There’s face painting and balloon twisting and all kinds of kid-friendly fun. Critters-To-Go Hand-led Ponies will take children on a personal walking tour of the event area. A farm animal petting zoo allows children to enjoy gentle creatures up close, while Wild Wonders returns by popular demand with their “Exotic Petting Zoo,” featuring a hands-on visit with many unusual creatures. Kids can also get up close and personal with sea creatures featured in the Channel Islands Mobile Tide pool. Glendale Police and Fire will open up their vehicles for kids to explore- it’s great photo opportunity.

Presented by co-sponsor, Glendale Humane Society, Wags & Whiskers, celebrates our four-legged friends with a low key walk-around pet parade, vendor booths, training demonstrations, silly dog contests and raffle prizes. Looking for a new family friend? Animals rescue groups will bring dogs looking for their forever homes. Lace up your sneakers, grab the leash and come strut your mutt to help raise funds for homeless dogs and cats.
The festivities continue in the 2200 block, with the popular Montrose Harvest Market, where more than 150,000 attendees visited in the last year to pick up fresh California Certified and organic produce, flowers, baked goods and specialty foods. Also featured is The Marketplace, where visitors can peruse a variety of collectibles, hand-crafted artisanal items and other unique treasures.
Taste of Montrose offers a wonderful opportunity to get a “taste” of the culinary delights offered by an array of participating Montrose restaurants. Tickets are $20 and all proceeds benefit Prom Plus, a post-prom event

for CV High School seniors and their guests. Prom Plus presents a fun yet safe alternative to un-chaperoned after-prom parties at the Crescenta-Canada YMCA featuring a mock casino, mechanical bull, climbing wall, and more.

Montrose Arts & Crafts Festival

2013 will mark the 30th anniversary of the Montrose Arts & Crafts Festival. It is one of the oldest events of its type in California and is the largest public event in Glendale. Montrose Shopping Park Association sponsors this two-day festival which runs Saturday, June 1st from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM and Sunday, June 2nd from 10:00 AM until 5:00 PM.

More than 300 fine artists, crafters, food vendors, California Certified farmers, musicians and entertainers will make their way to Montrose on festival weekend.
Some vendors come from as far away as Arizona and New Mexico. The festival draws visitors from far and wide with a wonderful array of handmade crafts, jewelry, fine art, textiles, flowers and much more. Festival booths are located in the 2200, 2300 and 2400 blocks of Honolulu and the International Food Court and Montrose Harvest Market (Sunday only) are located on Oceanview Boulevard.

The Festival has grown into an event for the entire family and features live entertainment, a children’s activity area and an expanded International Food Court with seating for one hundred people. Here, busy shoppers can sample everything from Hawaiian Rotisserie Chicken, Thai Food and Tamales to good old American Barbecue while enjoying live music.

The Festival weekend is a great time to re-discover and explore the almost 200 business that comprise the historic, century-old Montrose Shopping Park. Come spend festival weekend in charming old town Montrose and enjoy the family fun and tradition of the Montrose Arts & Crafts Festival.

Montrose’s Block Party, Hot Rod & Classic Car Show

Montrose’s Independence Block Party, Hot Rod & Classic Car Show
Now in its 11th year, the Independence Block Party, Hot Rod and Classic Car Show attracts thousands of area residents as well as automobile aficionados to the Montrose Shopping Park.

More than 50 Classic Cars and 200 Custom Hot Rods and their owners will be on hand at this invitation-only car gathering. The Classic Cars can be found in the 2300 block of Honolulu.

Hot Rods will be on display in the 2300 and 2400 Blocks of Honolulu as far west as Orangedale Ave.

Visitors will be treated to the sounds of 60’s band, “Surfing With Elvis,” in the Car Show area.

The Montrose merchants invite the community to this wonderful Saturday, July 6, 2013 Block Party from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM in the 2300 & 2400 blocks of Honolulu avenue at the Montrose Shopping Park.

Come shop, eat and play all day! All stores will be open and many will offer special items and discounts at the semi-annual Montrose Sidewalk Sale!

Montrose 4th Annual Film Festival

Montrose Shopping Park Association presents the 4th Annual Montrose Film Festival. This family-themed event features free movies under the stars, popcorn and live musical entertainment. Moviegoers can even purchase “in-seat dining” from one our wonderful Montrose restaurants and have it delivered directly to their theater seats by Prom Plus volunteers.
So bring the whole family for some good old-fashioned cinematic fun- we’ll provide the chairs!

Montrose Centennial Celebration

In celebration of Montrose, California’s 100th birthday,

the Montrose Shopping Park Association will host Centennial Days, a two day family festival on Saturday, February 23 and Sunday, February 24, 2013 in the Montrose Shopping Park. As a nod to Montrose’s original land sale auction and barbeque held in February 1913, Centennial Days will have a western theme and will recreate the spirit of the original BBQ of 1913.

Glendale Fire Department, Station #29 will kick off the celebration with a pancake breakfast at 9:00am on Saturday. San Fernando Rangers will parade on horseback through the shopping park and lead our costumed attendees (10 and under) in a fun-filled costume parade. Festivities include live music, square dancing lessons, line dancing demonstrations by students of Montrose’s Revolution Dance Center, carnival rides and games, story tellers, historians, movies, walking tours, local dignitaries, bullwhip and trick roping demonstrations, face painters, balloon twisters and much, much more. The kids’ zone will feature eurobungy trampolines, hand-led pony rides, petting zoo and inflatable activities. Local artists will display artwork inspired by Montrose and southern California. Classic western BBQ will be provided onsite in our BBQ tent and our old-fashioned “saloon” will provide beer and wine. The main event stage will be located at Oceanview and Honolulu and the Montrose Travel side stage will be located at Wickham Way.
Our regular Sunday Harvest Market will be held Sunday from 9-3. Closing ceremonies begin on Sunday afternoon and include remarks from local community leaders and officials as well as a birthday cake and singing to wish Montrose a happy 100th Birthday.

Halloween Trick-or-Treat Spooktacular

Who knows what devilish fun lurks in the shadows of Montrose after dark? The Montrose Shopping Park Association hopes the public will drop by our festively decorated town to find out. The annual Montrose Halloween Spooktacular will weave its magic in the 2200, 2300 and 2400 blocks of Honolulu Ave. on Halloween night, Monday, October 31st.

This perennial favorite is a true family event full of traditional tricks and treats as well as a few surprises. From 5:00 PM until the treats are gone, the Montrose Shopping Park Merchants will give out candy throughout the Shopping Park.

Andersen’s Pet Shop will host the annual Howloween Pet Parade and our littlest two-legged costumed cuties can parade across our scenic stage to show off their Halloween spirit. For our grown up revelers (ages 12 and up), we’ll have a costume contest to find the spookiest, cutest, funniest and most original costumes out there! Each category is limited to 25 entrants so click here to register now.

This year’s Spooktacular will also include games, food booths and bounce houses, so plan to bring your appetite and enjoy hot dogs and lemonade, hot popped kettle corn and delicious roasted corn on the cob. Bounce the night away on a two-story slide, a 40′ obstacle course and a magic bounce castle.

Get in the spooky spirit of things and have your face painted by Face Makers. The Montrose Shopping Park Association invites everyone to get into the spirit of this safe and supervised event and spend Halloween in the Montrose. This year, as an alternative to the chaos of the holiday season, our charming town is celebrating White Friday on Friday, November 29rd. Many stores will be “whiting out” the sales tax on items, offering special promotions, hosting open houses or offering complimentary goodies – just look for the snowflake to find participating stores. The 2200 block of Honolulu Avenue will be closed for strolling carolers, a play area for the kids with real snow and the second annual Holiday Tree and Town Lighting ceremony at 7:00 pm.

Our wonderful weekend traditions of horse drawn trolley and pony rides, strolling carolers, Christmas music and Santa Claus continue this year! The horse drawn trolley provides complimentary rides up and down Honolulu Avenue on Saturdays and Sundays. Free hand-led pony rides are available for the kids on Saturdays and Santa Claus can be seen strolling and handing out candy canes Saturdays and Sundays. There will be live Christmas music on the streets and an expanded Kid’s Zone in the Sunday Market that includes a petting zoo!

Leave the overcrowded malls and long lines behind and come spend the holidays in charming, old town Montrose. There’s plenty of free parking, wonderful shops and amazing food – truly something for everyone.

The Marketplace

The Montrose Marketplace is a unique collection of vendors offering a wide array of collectibles, antiques, artisanal and hand-crafted products. The Marketplace runs in tandem with our popular Sunday Harvest Market.

Hours: Sundays 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Vendor Rates:

Antique/Collectible/Memorabilia Vendors: $45 Per 10′x10′ Space, $75 for 10’x20’ space
Artisans Making Crafts in Their Booths: $45 Per 10′x10′ Space
MSPA Members: $35 Per 10′x10′ Space
Public Service Booths: No Charge

Products Guidelines:

The Montrose Shopping Park Association does not accept vendors into the market who wholesale or resell new merchandise. Any artisan selling crafts in our market should be actively engaged in the process of making samples of their product in their booth during market hours.

Off-loaded Market:

The market is an “off-loaded” market, which means that our vendors may not sell from their vehicles unless required by civic ordinance. Vendors are allowed to pull their vehicles directly up to their booth space to unload. They are then required to park their vehicles in designated parking spaces. At the end of the market, vehicles are allowed to enter the event area for break down and reloading under the supervision of the Marketplace Manager.

Tents/Canopies:

All vendors must provide their own canopies, tables, chairs and other equipment. Every booth must have a canopy and all equipment must be clean and in good repair.

Availability of Electricity:

Electrical hookups are available for our vendors at no charge. Any use of electrical equipment is permitted under the supervision of the Marketplace Manager.

Arrival Times:

Vendors may arrive for set up at the market no earlier than 7:00 AM and no later than 8:15 AM. MSPA reserves the right to “resell” booth space left unclaimed after 8:15 AM. All vendor vehicles MUST be removed from the market area by 8:30am.

Reserving a Space:

Booth spaces are reserved on a quarterly schedule. Vendors are not required to attend every Sunday and may select the dates that suit their schedule, subject to availability. However, all vendors must submit a quarterly schedule to the Marketplace Manager. Any vendor who cannot keep a reservation must notify the Marketplace Manager no later than the Wednesday prior to the Sunday market they will be absent. Schedules and cancelations may be submitted to the Marketplace Manager via telephone, in person at the market or via email.

Booth Assignments:

Booth space assignment is not on a first-come first-served basis and are determined by the Marketplace Manager. Booth assignments may change at any time.

Payment:

Vendor payments are due on the day of the event. The market accepts payment in the form of cash or check made payable to “MSPA.”

Special Events:

The Montrose Shopping Park Association is the sole sponsor of The Marketplace and also produces a number of special events, including Independence Block Party & Car Show, Kids ‘n Kritters Day, etc. These events also include the Harvest Market and The Marketplace. There is currently no additional charge to participate as a vendor in these events. Events which are not open to The Marketplace include: the Montrose Arts & Crafts Festival and the Montrose Halloween Spooktacular.
