Montrose Centennial Celebration

The Montrose Centennial Celebration continues! A special "Thank You" to all our wonderful sponsors!

In celebration of Montrose, California’s 100th birthday,

the Montrose Shopping Park Association will host Centennial Days, a two day family festival on Saturday, February 23 and Sunday, February 24, 2013 in the Montrose Shopping Park. As a nod to Montrose’s original land sale auction and barbeque held in February 1913, Centennial Days will have a western theme and will recreate the spirit of the original BBQ of 1913.

Glendale Fire Department, Station #29 will kick off the celebration with a pancake breakfast at 9:00am on Saturday. San Fernando Rangers will parade on horseback through the shopping park and lead our costumed attendees (10 and under) in a fun-filled costume parade. Festivities include live music, square dancing lessons, line dancing demonstrations by students of Montrose’s Revolution Dance Center, carnival rides and games, story tellers, historians, movies, walking tours, local dignitaries, bullwhip and trick roping demonstrations, face painters, balloon twisters and much, much more. The kids’ zone will feature eurobungy trampolines, hand-led pony rides, petting zoo and inflatable activities. Local artists will display artwork inspired by Montrose and southern California. Classic western BBQ will be provided onsite in our BBQ tent and our old-fashioned “saloon” will provide beer and wine. The main event stage will be located at Oceanview and Honolulu and the Montrose Travel side stage will be located at Wickham Way.
Our regular Sunday Harvest Market will be held Sunday from 9-3. Closing ceremonies begin on Sunday afternoon and include remarks from local community leaders and officials as well as a birthday cake and singing to wish Montrose a happy 100th Birthday.
